BDS Wales 1981
Keith Morgan graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 1981 and has worked in Newport for 28 years.
His clinical interests include all aspects of cosmetic dentistry including invisalign, crown and bridge, tooth whitening and Cerec 3D.
Mr Morgan ia a dental volunteer with Operation Smile, assisting with the reconstruction of cleft lips and palates in the third world. In 2008 he was the dental member of their first mission to Papua New Guinea, assisting with seventy four surgical cases, operating aboard the US Navy Hospital Ship Mercy. In 2009 he worked in Kenya, and he has just returned from a mission to Cambodia. As well as being a guest on various radio shows, and participating in dental phone-ins, in April 2010 BBC Radio Wales broadcast two 30 minute documentaries recorded by Keith while on the mission to Papua New Guinea.
Keith and Nicola have worked together for over 30 years.
Outside work he enjoys skiing, diving and walking his two dogs Max and Henry.
BDS Wales 2000
Katherine qualified from Cardiff Dental School in July 2000 with BDS, and then completed a year of vocational training.
She began working as an associate with Keith Morgan in 2001, practicing in Cwmbran, Caerleon. She then moved to Malpas Road in January 2009.
Katherine enjoys all aspects of dentistry especially crown and bridgework. She has a special interest in treating more anxious patients and spends time building up their confidence.
BDS Wales 1990
I graduated from Cardiff Dental Hospital in June 1988 and have been in general practice in Caerleon for 20 years before moving to Malpas in Jan 2009. I work 1 day a week in Malpas and the rest of the week in my own practice in Monmouth.
I enjoy all aspects of general dental practice and have recently undergone training in Smile redesign, and placement of cosmetic all porcelain restorations. I am interested in and am trained in the treatment of patients with tension headaches and posture problems with removable appliances.
I have undergone training in the use of Botox for the treatment of wrinkles to the forehead and around the eyes.
My dental nurse Margot is registered with the General dental Council and has worked with me for over 20 years and therefore has a good understanding of how I work and is very experienced.
I also work in the access centre dealing with very nervous patients with dental emergencies and have a lot of experience with patients who consider themselves to be “difficult” or “awkward”.
I am married with 2 teenage children and enjoy spending time with my family, walking my dogs and playing 5 a side football in my spare time.
MFDS RCS Eng 2006, BDS Wales 2004
Hi I’m Ben Currie and I qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2004. After this completed two years of General Professional Training which involved one year solely working as an associate in NHS general practice and two six monthly posts as a senior house officer in both the Community Dental Service based in Merthyr Tydfil (treating mainly children) and the Hospital Dental Service at Cardiff Dental Hospital. During this two year period I gained the postgraduate qualification MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
This two year period gave me valuable experience in many aspects of clinical dentistry before joining Malpas Dental Practice in 2006.
I graduated from The University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2005. Since then I have worked as a General dentist in Birmingham and London before settling in South Wales.
I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and always endeavour to put patients at ease and offer the widest range of options for any problems they may have.
I am currently studying towards an MSc in Advanced general dental Practice from the University of Birmingham. The course provides access to world-leading research, teaching and the most modern forms of Dentistry.
I spend my spare time cycling and competing in triathlons. I also love walking my boxer dog (Bryn) and collecting vinyl records.
Tracey – Dental Therapist
Originally from Northern Ireland, Tracey graduated as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in June 2009 from Sheffield University. After graduation, Tracey moved to Newport to work with Malpas Dental Practice.
As a Dental Therapist, Tracey is qualified to do all aspects of dental hygiene as well as deciduous extractions, pulpotomies and permanent and deciduous fillings. A Therapist works under prescription of a dentist.
Tracey treats a lot of our children patients at Malpas Dental practice and they feel at ease while having treatment with her.
Tracey has a keen interest in running. She took part in the Great North Run 2014 to raise money for Beating Bowel Cancer.
Toni Perrin – Dental Therapist/Hygienist
I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in both Dental Hygiene and Therapy, graduating with a distinction in Paediatric dentistry.
Here at Malpas Dental Practice, I focus on the treatment and prevention of periodontal disease (gum disease) with an emphasis on patient education. I have a meticulous approach to treatment and aim to help patients improve their oral health and quality of life.
I regularly attend seminars to help expand my dental knowledge, keep up to date with the latest techniques and take interest in expanding my skill set.
Outside of work I enjoy walking my two French Bulldogs, socialising with friends and family and of course retail therapy!
Sian – Dental hygienist
CEB Dip Dent Hygiene 1998
Hi I’m Sian and I qualified at Cardiff Dental School in 1998.
I enjoy all aspects of my work. Being able to contribute to a persons confidence and smile, by achieving together, healthy clean mouths is very rewarding.
Dentistry is changing and progressing all the time and I find it very interesting to see the results of different treatments that are now being used.

Qual- Final Certification in Dental Technology City & Guilds 1980
Hi, my name is Adrian Barrell and I am the Dental Technician at Malpas Dental Practice.
I have been working in dentistry for 36 years. I started my apprenticeship City and Guilds as a dental Technician in 1973 and qualified in 1980.
From 1973 to 2005 I worked at another practice running the lab from 1993.
In 2005 I joined Malpas dental Practice where I run the laboratory.
Recent courses I have attended are
Eclypse – new techniques for denture construction
I regularly attended training courses in line with modern techniques
I am registered with the GDC and follow all guidelines with respect to ongoing training.
I am married and enjoy Jive and Ballroom dancing with my wife. I play the blues harmonica and the saxophone
I enjoy walking by the coast with my dog.
Debbie Morgan – Practice manager
I qualified as a dental nurse in 1985 and have worked at Malpas Dental Practice as Ian’s nurse from 1983-2000 when I left to have my son. I returned to work in 2003 as Practice manager in our Caerleon practice and later Keith and I bought Malpas Dental Practice in 2005 it felt like going home.
I love my job and I love working with our very dedicated team who strive to put you at your ease. We now have Investors in People Gold standard and we have been BDA Good Practice since 2008.
I feel confident my team will help you through you journey with us.
I take part in marathons to raise money for charity mainly children’s charity, so if you see me running please wave some encouragement.
